Early in the morning, our team picks you up from your accommodation in Djerba or Zarzis to take you on an adventure into the Tunisian desert.
Leave the island via the Roman causeway and reach the mainland. At a café, amid the olive groves, your guide will brief you on the detailed itinerary of your excursion from Djerba to Ksar Ghilane and show you the route on a map.
Then, head to Aïn El Amba, a vantage point offering a panoramic view over the Jeffara plain – perfect for photos.
A little further on, you'll tackle the rocky tracks of the Tunisian Reg in an air-conditioned vehicle. Enjoy this sudden change of scenery and the thrill of off-road driving.
In the middle of nowhere, a short photo stop invites you to listen to the silence… It's a truly unique moment, and with a bit of luck, you might spot a Bedouin with his herd of goats, sheep, or camels!
Next, you reach the oasis of Ksar Ghilane – a unique spot where the greenery of the palm grove meets the golden dunes. Your guide will show you where to change, then you can enjoy a swim in the natural hot spring, which also irrigates the surrounding palm groves.
A few metres away, quads and camels await you: feel free to book a ride to cross the dunes and reach the Fort of Tisavar (optional activities, payable locally to the local providers).
Then comes lunch… Savour good Tunisian cuisine in a typical setting! The menu usually includes a starter, a main course, and a seasonal dessert (often a soup, a Tunisian couscous, and fresh fruit).
After the meal, set off to discover the Berber village of Chenini, clinging to the mountainside, and spend about an hour there with your local guide. He will be happy to introduce you to the village's various buildings: the olive oil mill, the mosque, the houses carved into the rock, and much more.
Continue your route towards Ksar Hadada, an ancient fortified Berber granary with genuine charm, before heading back to Djerba. On the way, stop for photos at the Chahbania salt lake, whose shimmering reflections offer a stunning spectacle.
