Korbous spa resort

Korbous Spa Resort is located in the Cap Bon region, attached to the governorate of Nabeul. The commune was created by a decree on May 20, 1982, with its perimeter extending over 5,000 hectares. Located 60 km from Tunis and Hammamet, Korbous has 3,500 inhabitants. This charming village perches on a hill by the sea. Since antiquity, it has been known as a high-quality spa resort.

Its hot springs are beneficial for healing. Seven natural springs lie amidst forests and mountains, facing the sea. These are the most famous springs in Tunisia. The road to Korbous runs along the steep coast, offering a magnificent landscape. Korbous nestles its white houses along a single street at the bottom of a valley open to the sea. An 8 km long cornice borders the valley, allowing visitors to contemplate the Gulf of Tunis. This is one of the most endearing images of Cap Bon.

Thermal Waters and Nearby Attractions

Korbous is both a small family seaside resort and a renowned spa resort since antiquity. Its hot sodium-chlorinated waters and cold sulfurous calcium waters treat various conditions. These include osteoarthritis, rheumatism, sciatica, herniated discs, osteoporosis, chronic bronchitis, and emphysema. Squat chimneys blow steam from the hot waters. Other sources emerge under the sea or at the water’s edge. At the Arraka (Suante) baths, men use pools filled with spring water. Women have direct access to the dark grotto lit by candles.

Around Korbous, visitors can explore several attractions. Aïn Oktor, the twin station of Korbous, lies 3 km away. This small hydromineral station features a hotel, a refreshment bar, and a bottling plant producing 10,000 bottles daily. Sidi Amara, a marabout of a holy man from Tripolitania, dominates the road on the right before arriving at Korbous. Le Bec de l’Aigle, also called the dog’s snout, rises 400 meters above the resort. It offers a superb panorama over the Gulf of Tunis and Cap Bon.

Beyond Korbous, the road continues on a ledge along the shore. After 2 km, visitors reach Aïn el Atrous (“the source of Goat”). Under a rock a few meters from the sea, a thermal spring gushes out at 50°C. Visitors need not be sick to enjoy this place. They can admire the beautiful view and swim in the spring that flows into the sea. Geological layers create an impressive spectacle, appearing to look skyward. Ultimately, Korbous offers an unforgettable experience of relaxation and natural beauty.
