🗺️ Itinerary

Day 1

From Djerba to the Desert : Dunes, Star Wars, and a Night Under Bedouin Tents

At 07:00, our team will pick you up at your hotel for your Sahara Night from Djerba adventure. You will leave the island by ferry and cross to the mainland.

Your first stop is the Berber village of Toujane, a spectacular hilltop settlement where you will have time for a photo break.

Then you will continue to the village of Matmata, famous for its troglodyte dwellings. You will visit a Berber family who will welcome you with traditional hospitality : a refreshing mint tea, and possibly a home-cooked meal. Take the time to admire the unique architecture, the simplicity of the home, and the modesty of its inhabitants.

In Matmata, another stop is essential : the famous Sidi Driss Hotel, a filming location of the Star Wars saga.

Lunch

After lunch, you will take the road to Douz, known as the gateway to the desert. Here, fine whitish sand dunes stretch as far as the eye can see. You will have free time to visit the market square. (Quad rides in the dunes are available as an optional extra, payable on site.)

You will then continue to the sandy village of Sabria, where you will spend the night in traditional Bedouin tents.

Settle into your tent and wait for the magnificent sunset over this ocean of sand. (A camel ride at sunset is also available as an optional extra, payable on site.)

Later, you will attend a demonstration of the preparation of sand bread – bread baked under sand and embers – followed by a delicious Tunisian meal.

Enjoy your evening around the campfire under a clear, starry sky where the Milky Way seems close enough to touch.

Day 2

Hot Springs, Roman Ruins, and the Road Back to Djerba

Wake up gently and enjoy a good breakfast overlooking the dunes. (If you prefer, you can wake up earlier to watch the sunrise.)

Then fasten your seatbelt for the second part of your Sahara Night from Djerba adventure.

You will head to the oasis of Ksar Ghilane, famous for its golden sand dunes, its lush palm groves, and its natural hot spring nestled in the heart of the oasis – where the green of the palm trees embraces the ocher color of the sand.

You will be welcomed by the warm, crystalline waters of the spring, renowned for their therapeutic virtues. Take time to swim and enjoy a moment of relaxation in this exceptional setting.

You can also visit the ancient Roman fort of Tisavar, ideally reached by renting a quad on site (optional extra, payable on site).

Next, you will go to Ksar Hallouf. Admire the panoramic view, visit the site, and discover the unique architecture, authenticity, and originality of the ghorfas (traditional Berber granaries).

Finally, you will begin the return journey via the Roman road, crossing the Jefara plains and olive groves as far as the eye can see. You will head back to the island of dreams – Djerba – with a head full of good memories.
