Djerbahood Street Art is a unique urban art event on the island of Djerba. Artists from around the world take over the village of Erriadh for this event. They produce 250 works created specifically for the occasion. The Galerie Itinérances de Paris launched the project in June 2014. Erriadh, an authentic and traditional village, has become a space of expression for artists from various cultures. Consequently, it offers a panorama of global Street Art. The village is now an essential cultural attraction in Tunisia.

Djerbahood Street Art is a veritable open-air museum. During the summer of 2014, the village hosted the works of a hundred artists. These artists represented more than thirty different nationalities. The name “Djerba Hood” spontaneously imposed itself on the organizers. Rodolphe Cintorino installed the letters “The Hood” at the entrance to Erriadh. The village was formerly called Hara Sghira, meaning “little quarter” in Arabic.

The 250 works mobilized more than 4,500 spray paint cans. These works include both individual creations and collaborations. Djerbahood Street Art is an experiment in what a street art museum could be. It follows classic museum standards with light, scenography, and a route. Consequently, it stands out from typical urban art festivals. The village has become an important tourist attraction and an open-air graffiti museum.

Visiting Djerbahood Street Art has become essential on Djerba’s tourist circuits. This is especially true during the “Discovery of Djerba” excursion. Visitors discover the island’s must-sees, including Guellala (the pottery village), the old synagogue, and Houmt Souk. Ultimately, Djerbahood Street Art offers an unforgettable journey into urban art.
