Day 1: El Jem, Matmata, Douz, Sabria and the night in tent

Sidi Driss Star Wars Matmata

This adventure will take you to Douz, the gateway of the desert, for a night in a tent between the golden sand dunes of Sabria.
– – On the way, you will stop at El Jem, a very famous Roman city known for its poplular colosseum (the biggest after that of Rome)
– – Your journey will then take you to the troglodyte village of Matmata, where you will delve into the fascinating history of underground Berber dwellings. You will be warmly welcomed by a Berber family, sharing their hospitality with you around a rosemary tea, accompanied by local specialties such as olive oil, honey and homemade bread. You will then explore the Sidi Idriss hotel, an iconic filming location for several scenes from George Lucas’ Star Wars Saga, before heading to the Sabria Desert where the sand dunes stretch as far as the eye can see and where time seems to have stopped. Or to another tented camp located at the heart of a fascinating oasis.
– – On your way to the camp, you might want to take the opportunity for an exciting quad or camel adventure, offering a unique perspective on the desert (extra and payable on site). In that case, you will have a one-hour stop in Douz
– – Once you arrive at the Sabria tented camp, immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of this marvellous landscape. Don’t miss the view of the sunset over the dunes (/over the oasis).
– – Then, treat yourself to a delicious traditional meal, discovering the authentic flavours of Tunisian cuisine
– – If there are enough people, you will enjoy a wonderful evening of music and animation around the campfire. Otherwise, let yourself be lulled by the silence of the desert in the arms of Morpheus

Day 2: Tozeur, the mountain oases, Kairouan and back to Tunis

North-South Tour

– – After an invigorating breakfast in the camp, head to Tozeur via Douz. Enjoy a photo stop at the Chott Djerid salt lake, the largest salt lake in North Africa.
– – Arrive in Tozeur and witness your adventure continue with the enchanting discovery of the Chebika oasis, allowing you to explore the secrets of this picturesque mountain oasis, where majestic palm trees stand proudly among crystal-clear waterfalls and lush gardens
– – Let yourself be carried away by the magic of this enchanting place, where natural beauty and tranquility reign supreme.
– – The adventure continues with a visit to the majestic Tamerza waterfall, a natural wonder that amazes with its power and beauty. After this captivating discovery, take time to enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, where you can taste regional specialties while admiring the surrounding landscapes.
– – After midday lunch, head to Kairouan for a quick panoramic visit.
– – Continue to your starting point, where your adventure and our services will end

Don’t forget to bring your sunscreen and your sunglasses.
It is better to wear sneakers to walk in the sand
Tunisian cuisine is quite spicy, if you don’t eat spicy, please let us know.
If you have any food allergies, please let us know.
The camel ride in the dunes lasts 1 hour and costs around 10 euros per person and is extra payable on site.
The quad ride lasts about 40 minutes and costs about 30 euros per person and is extra payable on site.
Do not hesitate to take some pocket money if you want to buy some souvenirs (sand roses, a cheche or others) or give tips.
The price of drinks on site and about 3 dinars per drink (about 1 euro)
