Program of the Tour
Day 1: Tunis – Matmata (Overnight in Matmata)
The adventure begins as you depart from Tunis, heading on a scenic drive toward the mountainous region of southern Tunisia. The journey, lasting about four hours, will take you to Matmata, a legendary location where you’ll dive into the Star Wars universe.
Visit the Troglodyte Village of Matmata
Upon arrival, you’ll explore the fascinating troglodyte village of Matmata, where people live in homes carved into the rock. This is where you’ll find the Sidi Idriss Hotel, a must-see for Star Wars fans. This hotel served as the Lars family home, and you’ll be able to admire the Lars farm dining room, one of the saga’s most famous scenes. The hotel’s interior, with its five courtyards, one of which is dedicated to the dining room set, will transport you straight into the Star Wars universe.
Meet a Berber Family

Sidi Bouhlel Canyon: The “Star Wars Canyon”
On your arrival near Tozeur, we’ll stop at the Sidi Bouhlel Canyon, also known as the “Star Wars Canyon.” This natural set, which was used for several Star Wars scenes (including the Jundland Desert in Episode IV), is a place rich in cinematic history. You’ll recognize the spots where Luke Skywalker meets R2-D2, and where Ben Kenobi intervenes to save the heroes from the Tusken attacks.
Lars Farm Igloo
Next, we’ll visit the iconic Lars Farm Igloo, a key location in the saga. This “igloo” symbolizes the entrance to the Lars farm and has become an essential emblem for Star Wars fans. While this structure is purely a set, it will allow you to relive the film’s iconic scenes. Just around it, you can also see the hydroponic gardens and the craters that were part of the farm’s courtyard, immortalized in Episode IV.
The Great Dune (Sea of Sands)

Yardang Field
A short distance from Mos Espa, you’ll discover Yardang Field, a natural field where several important scenes from Episode I were filmed, including Queen Amidala’s shuttle landing on Tatooine.
